Shai haleeb yemeni tea

Yemeni Tea is similar to the tea consumed in other Arab countries. This recipe is for milk tea, a very sweet black tea spiced with cardamom and cloves added to condensed milk. Let the milk boil lightly on the stove for a few minutes to develop the flavor. Enjoy!

Ingredients

16 oz. water (2 cups)
4 oz. condensed milk
6 tsp. sugar (NOTE: Yemeni tea is very sweet, you may lessen the sugar to taste)
3-4 cardamom pods
2 whole cloves
2 teabags

How to make

Add water, milk, sugar, cardamom, and cloves to saucepan and bring to a boil on medium heat.Boil on medium heat for about 5 minutes, being careful not to burn milk.Add tea and continue boiling for another 5 minutes, allowing the tea to flavor the milk. Serve with thamool or cookies. Serves 2

Thank you for posting these excellent authentic Yemenite recipes and the videos are really helpful and informative. I was looking for a website such as yours based on Yemen's cuisine - my mum is really glad I am learning about the food of her country. I was lucky to stumble on your site.

It was really hard to get a website like yours based on Arab - Yemeni recipes - most of the Middle Eastern food / recipe sites include mostly food from N.Africa, Levant and Gulf Based countries. Keep up your excellent work!! I have saved your website in my favourites and signed up for your newletters.

:)

I tried this with English Breakfast tea and I tried it without cardamon pods! It was still very tasty and just like chai!
